The lotus flower, that is said to close off at night time and resurface over the water with the sun holds great significance in the making of the Nekheb lehenga which highlights a continuous floral pattern with each petal of the flower embroidered in a different technique and material. It uses multiple materials like glass beads, sequence, and faceted beads. The blouse further highlights the importance of the lotus in Egyptian culture where a technique of 3D layering is used and each petal is embroidered, cut out and layered on top of each other to represent the different surfaces of the flower.
